Please take note of the following service projects done in the past! This is a sample of the 2008 and 2009 42in42 inspired service projects. Hopefully this will generate some excitement and ideas on how you can get involved and serve in your own community.

Cowtown Community Cleanup cleaned up Fort Worth Community Park in Granbury by collecting trash then transporting it to the Southside Service Center. Granbury, TX. Hours donated: 5

Villacourt Home Joined forces with Habitat for Humanity to put the finishing landscaping touches on their home. Glendale, AZ. Hours donated: 40

Juvenile Correction Center visited the center to serve food, play games and spend time with the young adults. GA. Hours donated: 15

March of Dimes participants walked in the March of Dimes to raise money, which helps promote healthy pregnancies and births so all babies have a healthy start. Fort Worth, TX & GA. Hours donated: 54; Funds Raised: $3,485.00

Savage Adventure Race. Six hour adventure race to raise money for The Friends of Brandywine Creek State Park. Brandywine Creek State Park, DE. Funds Raised: $200.00

Compass Carnival volunteers setup/tear down the atractions and assisting in running the carnival booths. Held at Fletcher Elementary School and provides a safe and fun Spring celebration for elementary school students. Aurora, CO. Hours Donated: 4

Painted Turtle Camp volunteers helped prepare cabins for the camp Spina Bifida Family Weekend. Lake Hughes, CA. Hours Donated: 60

Odyssey of the Young Mind To promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), the children using a technique called Geocashing will have the challenge of using handheld GPS receivers to find their way to the High Bay in Building 100. Once there, they will see several short videos on Mars Exploration Rover video and reusable Hypersonic Cruise Vehicle. The Odyssey continues with Robotics and Static Electricity demos. Additionally they will be able to view spacecraft components, models and have the opportunity to ask questions of the engineers. Valley Forge, PA. Hours Donated: 137

Young Minds at Work Volunteers took high school students to various exhibits to promote higher learning. Denver, CO. Hours Donated: 80

Fort Worth Special Olympics Assist with track and field events. Fort Worth, TX. Hours Donated: 50

Earth Day Clean up Support clean-up effort, tree planting, clean out ponds, which are near Edwards Airforce Base. Palmdale, CA. Hours Donated: 140

Race for the Cure Participants collected donations to benefit the Susan G. Komen breast cancer foundation 5K Race. Fort Worth, TX. Hours Donated: 30; Funds Raised: $3,000.00

Foothills Clean up cleaned up heavily used portions of the Sandia Foothills Trail System. Alburqurque, NM. Hours Donated: 16

Walk for Autism, N. America's largest grassroots autism walk program and signature fundraising and awareness event. Pasadena, CA. Hours Donated: 56. Funds Raised: $8,200.00

Walk to End Domestic Violence Morning 5K Run / Walk; Benefits local domestic violence shelters.  Phoenix, AZ. Hours Donated: 4

Wow! That's Engineering reached out to high school girls to expose them to the field of engineering, hands-on experiences and speaking symposium. San Jose, CA. Hours Donated: 190

Servathon 2008, This cause rallies around 3000 volunteers in the area in a marathon of community service . This year they focused on serving public schools. Washington, DC. Hours Donated: 32; Funds Raised: $720.00

Tomales! Tomale sale funds go to benefiting Toys for Tots. Sunnyvale, CA. Hours Donated: 48; Funds Raised: $1,740.00

Halo Animal Rescue walk and care for dogs, deliver money, food, and supply donations. Goodyear, AZ. Hours Donated: 56; Funds Raised: $760.00

Girl Scout Service in front of the school, they did landscape gardening, put in pond, butterfly garden. Bay Area, CA. Hours Donated: 18; Funds Raised: $300.00

Camp Geronimo repainting the cabin's. Payson, AZ. Hours Donated: 360

World Championship Wild Hog Catching Contest to raise money for Matthew Fallon who is battling neuroblastoma. Sabinal, TX. Hours Donated: 30; Funds Raised: $305.00

Kyrene School District Book Drive collect books from Kyrene School district to send to sister school in. Fiji, Tempe, AZ. Hours Donated: 100

Adopt-A-Highway Earth Day Clean-Up LM cleans up 3.5 mile stretch of local roadway to commemorate Earth Day. Syracuse, NY. Hours Donated: 290

Hope's Closet Drive, donations drive to directly benefit New Life Center which provides safety, shelter and services to over 100 women and children each day. Goodyear, AZ. Hours Donated: 12

Maggie's Place Golf Tournament, Team proceeds to benefit house of hospitality for expectant women who are alone or living on the street. Goodyear, AZ. Hours Donated: 200; Funds Raised: $1,500.00

Space Day at Atlantic Elementary, hands-on displays and demos for the third grade students of Atlantic Elementary School. Fernandina Beach, FL. Hours Donated: 20

Veteran Support LM employees, family, and friends build a covered porch with wheelchair access for a Veteran. Fort Worth, TX. Hours Donated: 300; Funds Raised: $2,000.00

Tour de Cure fundraising bike ride for the american diabetes association. Long Beach, CA. Hours Donated: 150; Funds Raised: $22,000.00

MUST Ministry Breakfast, five to six volunteers purchase, cook and feed approximately 40-50 people from the homeless shelter. Marietta, GA. Hours Donated: 10

Project Green Clean, plant a tree to support a more green environment. Palmdale, CA. Hours Donated: 8; Funds Raised: $160.00

Airman’s Attic Donation Drive, Luke Air Force base has a donation closet that families of E1-E5 personnel can receive necessary items from. Currently, they are in desperate need for baby items. The donation of a baby item will get you a coupon to use in the cafeteria for a free frozen yogurt, sponsored by the Diversity Council and All About Catering. Goodyear, AZ. Hours Donated: 4

56th SECURITY FORCES SQUADRON POLICE GOLF TOURNAMENT, Benefits SFS UAC/100 Club. The mission of the 100 Club of Arizona is to provide financial assistance to families of public safety officers and firefighters who are seriously injured or killed in the line-of-duty, and to provide resources to enhance their safety and welfare. Glendale, AZ. Hours Donated: 48; Funds Raised: $480.00

Volley Ball Tournament,  to benefit the Special Olympics.  Goodyear, AZ. Hours Donated: 170; Funds Raised: $465

Second Harvest Food Bank, sort food donation for redistribution to those in need. San Jose, CA. Hours Donated: 30

Great American Bake Sale, national campaign to help end Childhood Hunger by having a Bake Sale to raise money (sponsored by NOVA). Goodyear, AZ. Hours Donated: 128; Funds Raised: $644.00

Big Brothers Big Sisters Poker Tournament, the proceeds going towards the Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization. Avondale, AZ. Hours Donated: 92; Funds Raised: $210.00

Relay For Life raise awareness and funds for cancer research. Benbrook, TX. Hours Donated: 1000; Funds Raised $23,900.00
